Online Mindfulness for Older Adults
The Mindfulness for Later Life group is for older adults (typically over the age of 65). We designed this course specifically to address some of the difficulties that people can face as they get older. Outcomes from the course show that it helps people to reduce low mood and anxiety, improve their resilience and wellbeing.
Participants can attend alone or as a couple and we are happy to accept referrals to the course from health professionals.
For people with cognitive difficulties (either progressive or non-progressive, e.g. dementia, stroke) we can accept people with an Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination score of 78 or above.
The format of the group:
The group is a closed group, run over a period of ten consecutive weeks, for two hours per session.
An optional one hour focus group is held after the final session.
It is held online via zoom
Participants are expected to commit to attending all sessions.
Home practice is a very important part of the course.
Participants will be given a link to a series of guided practises and handouts to download, the home practice is typically 20-30 minutes a day.
We ask participants to complete questionnaires at various points before, during and after the course, and we will provide you with feedback on your outcomes following the course.
